Following the successful re-launch of the Fred Trueman State School League, across five counties in the East of England, over 1,350 state school children played some competitive hardball cricket in 2022. For 2023, the league has been renamed to The Fred Trueman R66T Academy State School League with the aim of increasing participation levels even further. Working with the Yorkshire Cricket Board, the R66T Academy is also introducing an U12 league in Yorkshire, to encourage new players from state schools involved in hardball cricket. 

 

The R66T Academy’s mission is to provide more opportunities for everyone, everywhere to play and enjoy cricket. R66T Academy Co-founder, Matt Root said “It is great to be able to help give some focus to cricket in mainstream education. I know this is something that Joe, in particular, feels very passionate about. It also strengthens the R66T Academy’s stance of providing more opportunities for young people to play cricket, whoever they are, whatever their background.” 

 

To help support the development of both of these leagues, The Cricket Society Trust are hosting two fundraising events, the details of which are below.  

 

The Union Jack Club, Sandell Street, London, SE1 8UJ 

The fundraising dinner includes a sparkling wine reception and 3-course meal with a Q&A with special guests Geoff Miller OBE, Matt Root and Oliver Wise KC. 

Tickets for the fundraising dinner are priced at £100pp. 

 

All money raised from the both events will be donated to the running of the leagues, via the R66T Academy Foundation and the Cricket Society Trust. Your support of these excellent cricket projects is most welcome.
